Students: help put the “stud” in #PRStudChat
Florida State University recently started a public relations course that consists solely of question and answer sessions between students and the instructor. Well, not really, but wouldn’t that be fantastic? As a senior who will be entering the “real world” shortly, I’d like to have some what-ifs addressed.
When is the best time to pursue higher education? Should portfolios focus more on traditional or new-age skill sets? What happens when professionals no longer believe in the clients or issues they represent? And the list of plaguing questions goes on and on…
Luckily, social media sites like Twitter have created opportunities to connect with a wide range of industry professionals who are eager to offer advice. In fact, Deidre Breakenridge and Valerie Simon (@dbreakenridge and @valeriesimon) recently started a monthly twitter chat where PR students and pros discuss pre-determined topics under the hashtag, #PRStudChat; no really, I mean it this time!
The next chat is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 21, from noon to 1 p.m. Join the #PRStudChat group on LinkedIn to stay updated on upcoming topics and surprises. And don’t just be an observer—post pressing questions of your own on the discussion forum so that you can get expert advice on chat day. Gen-Y has been afforded unlimited possibilities because of social media. Take advantage of this great opportunity and get involved!

I’m so glad that you enjoyed the chat, and hope that more students will join you in putting the “Stud” in PRStudChat on October 21! In the meantime, students can join us over on Linkedin, via the #PRStudChat LinkedIn Group. It’s a great opportunity to begin building your professional network and to connect to the group between chats!
Awesome blog!
I thought about starting my own blog too but I’m just too lazy so, I guess I‘ll just have to keep checking yours out.
LOL,
